## low-literates
illiterates, semi-literates, uncomfortable with text, ..
**Ask people to look for something on the Web** and observe if they can use search keywords on a browser and if the results make sense to them.
**Depending on how we count**, the numbers are likely to be 3 billion in the world and 1 billion in India.
They perpetuate as **textual education** is mandated to be a **precursor to knowledge**.
---
### On the flip side
**First time in human history** anyone can record an oral narrative and play it back later in time or share it instantly with someone in a distant land.
Voice and visuals are a universal human capability. Low-literate people can listen, see, record and discuss these.. like any of us.
----
**But they stop with text**.
Can Internet technology include low-literates too, bringing in a recognition of expressions arising from them, heralding a sense of **human equality**?
---
## An inclusive tech stack
1. how can a Web (text) document be shared with an associate (low-literate included).
2. how can a Web document be **renarrated** (explained) to an associate.
3. how can a media document be created and co-worked in a low-literate context.
4. how can a media document be shared with an associate who can relate in text.

Web of **our Webs**..
Media co-creation and sharing (Stories.janastu.org)
Renarration (sweets.janastu.org) documents ([Web Archive](https://archivebox.io/))
**Our Webs** are community annotated,
Decentralised and Federated,
Services on Community Networks,
Subscribe to feeds from associates,
Extend browsers to support negotiations.
---
Model replicable networking services and spaces for
'meaningful' communications that
progresses towards **human equality**
Like the Internet and the Web have for the better literates.
Let us **care** for the low-literates and extend
our deliverables/affordances/availabilities to be inclusive of them.

## Re-imagining inclusions - example
local media. co-creators are listeners.
fragments of interest (#rainfed, #dalit, #aridlands), sense making (interpretations via annotations) of stories
[search](https://youtu.be/otsAKRai6jk) the local stories.
re-imagination: poor/dalits were given lands without water, now their produce is environmentally most sustaining => high value.
Generative storytelling (*Contextual, Audio-visual, AI generated?*)
